    Assuming KDE

My Skype restarts with the system if it was running when it shutdown

But you can put a script (think bat file) or a shortcut in

    /home/username/.kde/Autostart/

note that there is a period in front of kde. This makes it a hidden file.

To see it in the browser you must select View-Show Hidden

You can simply copy a shortcut to the directory or if you use a script be sure it's permissions are set to execute.

    There is equivalent in gnome

I think there's an option in Skype - Options>General - to start skype and put it in the system tray.

Sorry, I should have checked before posting. That option just gives you the icon in the system tray when you open Skype and no window. A wrong assumption on my part!

On my system the Apps that are open when you shutdown KDE come back when you restart it. I think there may be a setting some where that does this but I forget where it is. I thought it was default behavior.

    Ok found it

Personnel settings - KDE Components -Session manager

Be sure that On Login the Restore previous sessions is ticked

Ok, I just found the solution!
If anybody is interested to Add Software to the start up of your Gnome OpenSuse 10.2, then just go to Computer > Control Center > Sessions > Startup Programs!!!

    Hope you find this helpful.
