You need to format a partition as swap if you have the space and the activate it using the swapon command. Because you are using SUSE you may be able to do all of this in a GUI using YaST > Partitioner. To be honest if at all possible you'd be better off adding RAM to your system.

First off how much memory do you have???
For Suse you need a absolute minimum of 256meg and that assumes your graphics does not use shared memory
When you install Suse defaults to creating 3 partitions.
/ or root where system
/home where personal files are stored
/swap the swap space
Swap is normally set to 2x the amount of memory
In the install process the installer will give you its plan for setting up these partitions You can change that plan before anything gets written.
Read what the installer tells you don't just blindly click away at the continue button
assuming you are trying to dual boot
You need to resize the windows partition to leave free space of at least 10 gig
