    switching from suse

Having spent a lot of time trying to get an internet connection with suse 10.0 I am giving up on it. I have a Symantic v92 modem that is compatible with linux. Threads here indicate that there is a connectivity problem with that distro that is common. I have both opensuse slick and redhat 7.3 and wish to install one of them.

I need to know which is better where it comes to connecting and whether I can install the one I choose over the suse os or if I have to uninstall suse first. Then there might be other options I do not know about.

Please help with comments regarding this issue. I have tried dozens of work arounds. The closest I seem to have come is to sign on as root and open kinternet. I can then configure it, but still cannot connect. I have also used yast to change or to add the modem I use. No luck.
I like what I see in suse. The programs are great and I will have to install those that are not in the os I choose that I want to have. It is too bad that novelle has released this version with this bug. On the other hand, if someone can give me sound advice to connect with suse I am more than happy to learn.

why don't you upgrade to Suse 10.3? I am not sure whether that would solve the problem -- i am relatively new to linux; someone more experience could possibly correct me here.

Red Hat 7.3 and SuSE slick are both pretty old distros. You need to use a more modern distro to use modern hardware. (even on the dreaded MS OS, you can't use most modern hardware on Win98, likewise, you can't use modern hardware on an old linux distro without having a lot of trouble)
