    Just as a note, I remember SUSE 10.1 and 10.2 weren't very good at unmounting dvds/cds before overwriting or blanking them. This used to cause K3b to fail, so I used to manually unmount the device first which was a nuisance. It was fixed in 10.3 though.

    K3b tells me that there is no need to format and that I can simply overwrite the files.

    Note this is only a problem with DVD's, CD RW's I can erase

    Well I plan to upgrade to 10.3 soon any way.
