    X Windows problem?

    Hi.

I have servers which, by default, boot up to runlevel 3, without graphics.
But sometimes, for some reason, X Windows start as well.
Since servers are (very) remote to me, is there any log, or some other way, so I can see if X Windows realy started?

    Thanks.

Yes , many possibilities , one of them it's to try to see if you have a windows manager running like kdm or gdm , just type ps x .

the second it's to check the last date updates of the Xorg log file wish can be located in /var/log go there and ls -l too see the date of this file .

but if you are running the runlevel 3 , so it's impossible for X to start by itself unless there is something in /etc/init.d wish let X to start !

    Hope this help.

    Regards.
Linux is not only an operating system, it's a philosophy.
