All you need to do is hit Alt+F2 and type pidgin and hit enter. Why did you compile it from source? It is available in the repositories and on the install discs for 10.3. Also I believe the Packman/Guru repos had it for earlier versions.

How did you install it? Which commands did you execute?
Execute pidgin in Terminal/Konsole and post error message here, if any.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    The file is named pidgin-2.2.2.tar.bz2

I place this file in /usr/local/src

then i cd into /usr/local/src, type tar -jxvf pidgin-2.2.2.tar.bz2
after that i cd into pidgin-2.2.2

These are the commands i execute
    Code:
    ./configure
    make
    make install
During the make install, there are no errors.
So whats is the problem according to your experience? Thanks...

There could be a lot of reasons. Execute pidgin in Terminal and it will throw necessary info.

Which version of SUSE are you using? The best bet is to install it through YaST > Software Installation if possible.
