    Computer button disappears in 10.3

I've booted twice and have only been able to see it and click it once, but somehow it's disappeared, there's just no "computer" there, nothing to click...

is there a reason for this? or a way to get it back?

Right click on desktop and select "create new->link to location". Then in the url field type
    sysinfo:/
change the icon and you are ready. There might be another way that I am not aware of.

I did that, and tried to open it, but it doesn't do anything :-\
Should I just try a more basic form of linux? All this computer needs to do is view pictures, open archives, and browse the web, and the computer is pretty old (128mb ram, 800mhz) and openSuSE is running pretty slow, but I'm pretty new to linux, so I don't know what would suit that best.

What do you mean it doesn't do anything? Opensuse 10.3 is indeed overweight for your computer. Try adding more ram or have a look at the Favorite Distro for Older Computer Hardware thread

128 meg is really short for Suse kde/gnome you might try one of the lighter weight desktops.

If you log out to the log in screen you should find in the bottom left corner selections for other GUI's except for kde and gnome these all much lighter then kde/gnome They may do better on your machine. If you could add memory that would be best
