    wen i write the
    ./configure
    command, i get the following error message

    configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

    i am using opensuse10.2
    (and i m a complete newbie)

    ok, install the gcc compilers from YaST .

    What are you trying to install? As it is usually easier to install a rpm (ready made) version than from the source code.
