    microstar sound card not installed

i installed suse linux for my new AMD dual core 4000+ comp, everythin went fine but i'm unable to play audio files coz soundcard driver is not installed properly.

when i start players like realplayer an error pops up saying audio device could not be initialized... please help me overcome this problem... i have plans to completely switchover to linux, and at the same time i can't live without music.

i have attached screenshot showing my sound card details.

    many thanks in advance.

Did you go to Yast-hardware-sound card and try to configure it.

Also it sometimes is necessary to run alsaconfig from the command line as root.

You can try alsaconfig if you want by going to a terminal and entering su to change to root, then enter alsaconfig to see if alsa can set up your sound card for you.

If it works, run alsamixer while in the terminal to adjust your volume controls, then alsactl store to save your volume settings.

i tried alsaconfig, logged in as root, but the command did not work- got a message saying the command was not found- something like that.
so i have planned to get a PCI sound card for my comp. i need some suggestions in this regard. also i'd like to know the best ones that work with linux in general and SLED, in particular.
