I have Suse v10.0 and have not had this problem ... how is your printer connected?

Think I might have the same issue. I just configured the printer once and then ignored the duplicate "not configured" entry.

Mines connected by USB and is a HP all in one photosmart C3180

    EDIT opensuse 10.3 here BTW

Thanks for the come-back, it's appreciated.

Experience here suggests to me that it's most unusual for you NOT to have the same problems I'm having as a result of this double printer registeration/recognition.

On this end I can't ignore the double recognizing of the printers - once the software recognizes one or the other or both of the printers twice - they won't accept printing commands at all and right now the only way to get them to work is to go into Yast, delete the active printers and as was noted, re-enter them as newly attached printers. It's quickly enough done but very, very annoying and so far no one seems to know the answer.

By the way, the other individual asked as to how they're attached to the printer. Both printers are USB machines; a Lexmark E232 and the other a HP Deskjet 3650. It might also be noted that once recognized, both printers work very well with this Suse v10.0 software.

    Thanks for the come-back

My printer is parallel port connected ... which may explain why I don't suffer the same problem. I did notice a CUPS USB setting & this indicates there can be problems if you use classical device names for the printers ... if you haven't tried it yet you could try serial number identification for the printer.

Using the "serial number" as identification? Haven't tried that one yet. I did change the names of the printers with some limited success; i.e., it worked for a while but not for very long. Changed E232 to LaserE232 and keskjet3650 to inkjet3650 to see if that would work and as I said, it did, for a while.

Thanks for the tip re. "serial number" Hopefully that will work.

Gave it a try and am still getting that "double recognition" - very annoying to say the least!

    Anyway, thanks for the interest.
