Realtek Pci Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller Won't Connect

Just installed 10.3 on my brand new PC after using 10.1 on my old PC for 18 months. Installation proceded well enough but I'm encountering a few problems.

First priority is getting the network running. Network settings indicate that a Gigabyte RTL8111/8168 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller is recognised. Configuration appears correct but it remains "not connected".

Could this be a driver problem because of the newness of the hardware?

    Any suggestions please?

After poring over some poor Google translations, I've been able to resolve this issue. So, for anyone who has this problem in the future, if you have a dual boot system, Windows appears to be the problem. You need to go into your local connection properties and click on the "Configure" button next to the network adapter. Then select the property "Wake-On-Lan after Shutdown". When you reboot linux you should now have a network connection.

Sorry you had to answer your own question, but thanks for reporting back with the solution.

I have exactly the same nic with the same problem. I have solved it for windows by reducing the speed to 10 mB/s - half duplex, but still have the problem with kubuntu. Often no contact after restart. With fixed IP the best trial it starts one out of approximately three times.
So I was glad to see your solution, but I can't figure it out what you were doing. If I go to the properties of the nic, tab advanced I don't see the property wake on lan after shutdown as shown in the attachment.

    What did I miss?
