running from a live dvd

Good Morning to all;

I'm trying a new distro, suse 10.1 I want it to run from the live dvd only. I am sure that I would be root user while running from the dvd but find that it doesn't seem to be fully functional.

Trying to install drivers for my wireless card, I use YaST>software>software environment, and search for ndiswrapper. Nothing!! My book Keir Thomas beginning suse linux mentions installing configuration tools from the dvd but I can't find them.

Oh well, My Puppy 3.0 distro runs perfect and was a cinch to install.

Main question----Do all these distros run (fully functional) from the live dvd?

To what do you refer when you say "all"?
Most of the LiveDVDs do Just work.
Is your Book from the right Suse version?
And you know that a livedvd saves everything in the RAM right?
What makes you unable to save settings unless you setup a Persistend Drive.
