    If you have any bookmarks in Mozilla, they should be buried deep within the hidden .mozilla folder found in your /home directory.

    It should look something like this:

    /home/username/.mozilla/firefox/plsr5qoj.default/bookmarks.html
    oz

    Note that all your personal settings and data are stored in your home directory, most often in hidden folders ie hidden files and folders are proceeded by a period.

    You can see hidden files in your file browser by checking View-Hidden Files in the menu.

    Firefox will let you export your bookmarks, then you can import them later.

    Click on the Bookmarks menu at the top of the window:
    Bookmarks --->
    Organize Bookmarks

    Then
    File --->
    Export

    It will export them as a HTML file.

    Alternatively, you could install the Google Browser Sync add-in to Firefox. It securely copies all your settings, including bookmarks, cookies and saved passwords to its server. Then when you re-install everything, just add Google Browser Sync back in and it will copy all your settings back. It's platform agnostic, and will keep all your bookmarks synced across lots of different machines, be they Linux, Unix, Windows, Mac or anything else. You'll need a Google login, but if you use GMail/Googlemail, you'll already have one.

    Send your passwords across the internet? That does not sound like a very good idea, I hope that it is a secure connection.

    You can choose to encrypt your bookmarks, history, and tabs/windows. Passwords and cookies are always encrypted.
