    Just Gotta Ask ...

Came across a site that suggests Suse v11.0 is now in the works and I just have to ask ...

On this end I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 and have been using Suse v10.0 for about two years now and while it has it's share of un-workable programs, for the most part it's quite good - a lot better than anything WinDoze has available but I have to ask, just how much better than Suse v10.0 is v10.3? From what you may know of it, how much better do you know or are you expecting v11.0 to be?

My application and uses of Suse Linux are still quite basic; Office Work, Internet communications, data/spreadsheet uses and so far Suse v10.0 gets a B+ to an A- as far as I'm concerned as the inabililty to use the Internet as a USER as opposed to going on the Internet via ROOT is something I've not been able to correct since day one - and I don't like it. Over the past year questions regarding this have been posted to various Linux sites and to this date they still remain unanswered.

With the debacle of the latest version of WINDOZ (at the moment I forget the "cute" name Gates and his associates call it) in mind, I have to ask, is Suse V10.3 really all that much better than v10.0? From what you may know of Suse v11.0 as currently proposed, will it work on my Dell Inspiron? Will an upgrade for memory be needed? Will any other upgrades, hardware or software be needed to take full advantage of the proposed Suse Linux upgrade(s).

I have 10.0 and 10.3 on different machines ... the hardware detection has improved quite a bit since 10.0. The community repositories allow software to be easily added. When I get time I will be changing the 10.0 for 10.3. I like to do new install rather than upgrade so need a bit of time to sort user data etc before I update.

As for upgrading vs. full install, I agree with you 100%
