SAMBA access from web?
I'm pretty new so please bear with me ...
I have installed SUSE SLES 10 SP1 at home. It includes Samba 3.0.22-13.16-SUSE-SLES10.
I can access Samba shared folders from Windows machines that are inside my house but when I try to map a drive from a Windows box outside my home's firewall and across the web I cannot.
I try to Map a Network Drive. I point to the share \\myurl.com\sharename and I can't get past the userid and password prompt. I enter a userid and password as they exist in SUSE and it's as though I don't authenticate. I have even tried creating uppercase userids and passwords in SUSE and I add them to Samba but that doesn't work.
I can access many other services on my SLES 10 machine from outside the firewall. (FTP, VNC, SSH) I opened ports 137-139 on my firewall but I don't think this is a firewall issue. I actually get to the point of authentication.
How can I debug this?
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
