Question Newbie Installing SUSE 10.1 cannot mount cd-rom

I am installing SUSE 10.1 on a less than new computer and after I select installation it gives me an error that it "cannot mount the CD-ROM". It reads the cd to bring up the installation screen and loads the initial kernel. I have tried to mount the cd-rom but continue to get this error. I'm new to Linux. PLEASE HELP!!!! I'm getting frustrated. Thanks....

    Welcome to the forums!

If you are sure your ISO file was not corrupted and the burn to the CD was good, try experienting with some of the kernel boot options that are available to you through the F-keys right before the CD begins to boot.

You could also try a later release, as the latest release should always have the best hardware detection.

I can't think of anything else to try.

I didn't know that the cd burn could have an effect on that. I was thinking that the drivers were not present on the installation cd. I will try to burn the cd again. Thanks.

I dont think its a corrupted Image or Installation Media. I had a similar problem and BIOS Upgrade sorted it out. Check your MotherBoard Manufacturer's website for latest version of BIOS. Upgrade BIOS if possible else switch to latest version of SuSe, 10.3.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
