    Thumbs down Install problems!

OK, I'm a newbe. I've got an old P3 box with a 20gig HD, 512 mem, internet capable, etc. I had Win 2000 pro loaded on the HD. I have the 10.0 version of Linux (Novell commercial distrabution). So, I loaded CD1 and off I went. Resized my HD which worked well. I noticed during the install, there were several items (packages?) it could not intall. It would come up with a little window asking to Abort - Retry - Continue. I would hit continue after I tried retry. Well, I did that quite a few times. When it was all through it rebooted and gave me the screen which allows me to select either Win 2000 Pro or Linux. When I select Linux I am taken to a light gray screen with a small box in the middle with two entries. The first asks for User and the second asks for password. Well, I can input a user name but nothing happens when I try to input a password. No characters appear at all. When I hit enter, It shows an error in red. Down in the lower left corner of the screen is a small box which states something about a failure to mount. I have the feeling some of those items that did not get installed are critical to the start up process. Linux is installed in a 10.2 gig partition. I have tried to reinstall several times but no luck. Anybody have any ideas?

    Bad disk most likely

It normally requires 5 CDs. or one DVD disk to hold the distribution.

Where did you get the disk. You should download the latest 10.3

I actually purchased the CD's from a big box store a couple years ago. I will try DL 10.3 and see what happens. Thanks.
