Anyone can use ms Word on wine? I need some help

    Hi,
i have install ms word on wine in my machine. I;m having trouble with running the word application. When i run the word, it prompts me for my name and initials. Next it displays the error: Microsoft word has not been installed for this current user. Please run setup to install the application.

I have change the RegisteredOrganization & RegisteredOwner in the system.reg found in .wine/system.reg

What are the extra steps i must do to get it working?

That is tricky, MS makes nothing easy.

try Frank's Corner, Running Windows applications and games on Linux

Seems to have lots of wine solutions I don't know if they work I don't use wine

Google is your friend.....search wine Linux

You need to be logged in as the user and then install office - if you have three users then you need to install it three times or setup an 'Office user' that everyone can use. I ditched Word for OpenOffice on Linux - it reads & writes Word documents ... actually I think I needed to use crossover office to get it to work properly anyway ... but that was on version 9.0 of SUSE.

I second this suggestion. Why not just use OpenOffice? It's Linux native and you can open and save Microsoft Word documents in it.

If you do want to run it, I think MS Word 97 and MS Word 2000 are supposed to run pretty well under CrossOver:

    Compatibility - View App - Word 97

    Compatibility - View App - Word 2000
