    Dual Monitor in OpenSuSE 10.3

    Greetings,

I have been playing with linux for a while now but just build a new system and chose to go 100%. My I chose OpenSuSE, mainly because it seems to work the best out of the box. Here are the specs of my rig.

    Amd64 AthlonX2 3.2 ghz
    Asus M2N32-SLI Premium MOBO
Nividia 8600 GTS (dual DVI head)
    4gb (2x 2gb) Kingston DDR2 memory
    250 gb segate Sata HD
    KDS DVI 19" widscreen
    KDS VGA 19" normal display

I am using a DVI->VGA adapter for the non dvi monitor

I am not entirely sure how to get my monitors configured like I had them on windows. Sax2 only shows that i have one Display and also said that my graphics card does not support 3D because its not in their DB. I do get a signal in the second monitor but its just an exact mirror of the 1st. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to get a extended desktop on the 2nd monitor, not necessarily to stretch it across.

Please keep in mind that i am extreme Linux Noob

    Thanks,
    -Anthony

Have you installed the NVIDIA driver.

Go to nvidia.com and down load the driver for your card. Most likely the most recent.

Follow the instruction for SUSE. There is a link on the download page.

Use what is termed the hard way. It really is not that hard.

I think you will need the drive both for dual monitors and for 3D

The Monitor has nothing to do with 3D it is all on the card and the card drivers.

PS you need to install the Kernel Source and gcc compiler. This can be done through Yast.

Select a Monitor with specs close to yours. This normally works. You can also tweak the settings in Yast to set the size and aspect ratio of the selected monitor.
