AVerMedia TV card not working under Suse10.3
Hi all
I have just installed a "AVer TV Super 007" card from AverMedia but when I try to Scan for channels using KDETV it can't find any channel. In YaST it shows up under "Hardware" -> "TV Card" as "SAA7133/SAA7135 Video Broadcast Decoder" but when I try to scan channels from there it says
*********************
device has no tuner, exiting
Number of TV Stations Found: 0
*********************
This same card is working fine under M$-XP....
So what am I doing wrong??

You may be missing the firmware which should be in /usr/lib/firmware.
See if you can find it here (LinuxTV).Pete

I've just had a further thought. Kdetv is analogue only. Is your card for DVB?

Hi PetehYou may be missing the firmware which should be in /usr/lib/firmware.
See if you can find it here (LinuxTV).
Thanks for the reply, but I am not familiar with installing firmware
can you please provide any link or instructions on how to do that
No, we only get analogue TV here in Bangladesh. Before this I had a Pinnacle "PCTV Stereo" card & it was working fineI've just had a further thought. Kdetv is analogue only. Is your card for DVB?
Awaiting for further instructions

There's plenty of help on the linuxTV site. I'm not familiar with your card and with mine I found I had to just keep trying the various suggestions.
But it is very helpful so search the rest of the linuxTV site - they mention your card, I think.Pete

Here is a Link to specific instructions for the AVerMedia AVerTV GO 007:
AVerMedia AVerTV GO 007 - V4LWiki
If this is not the exact card that you have, you may need to determine the correct card=<number> and tuner=<number> for your card.Paul

Hi again everyone
A member at my local LUG suggested doing this
********************
"In suse you have to enter the needed values with Yast:
hardware->TV card -> Edit -> Expert settings
set Module parameters
card 57
gbuffers 2
tuner 54"
********************
Now I am getting video, but no audio
Any suggestions??

You may need to load the audio module.
This info is based on another version of your card that I found hereCode:# modprobe saa7134-oss or # modprobe saa7134-alsa

You need to know the correct ID of the card, according to your post it appears to be this.
In the Video4Linux Documentation/cardlist.saa7134, I see this listed.Code:saa7133[0]: subsystem: 1461:f11d, board: Avermedia AVerTV GO 007 FM [card=57,insmod option]
To find the correct ID of the card, first remove the entry that you made for card and tuner type. Reboot to start fresh, and then enter this in a terminal.Code:117 -> Avermedia Super 007 [1461:f01d]
Look for your TV card and post the output here.Code:# lspci -nn
The documentation that I found the info in should be in the kernel source files. Mine are here:
/usr/src/linux-2.6.18.8-0.3/Documentation/video4linux
I did not find your card listed here. I do have a newer version of Video4Linux/DVB that I had downloaded from their site. That is where it lists your card as #117.
I recommend that you download and install the latest drivers following the instructions here:
LinuxTV.org - CVS and Mercurial access
This may help the operating system recognize the card.Paul
