RAID controller not detected - promise fasttrak tx4310

While trying to install suse, I had to type "brokenmodules=sata_promise" because it would hang when attempting to load that module/driver.

After successful install of suse, I updated the kernel.
    Rebooted
Then installed all other updates (amarok, aaa_base, d-bus et al)
    Rebooted.
Then tried "sudo sudo modprobe -v -v sata_promise"
It took a long time, and then it finished.
Typing "sudo sudo fdisk -l" revealed that it had NOT picked up my RAID 5 array.
Typing "sudo sudo lspci|grep -i promise" shows the promise raid controller card.

    HARDWARE:
    Intel Pentium D
    2048MB ram
    4 SATA 300 in RAID 5
Promise FastTrak TX4310 PCI RAID controller card
    SOFTWARE:
    opensuse 10.3

How do I get my promise controller to work? (I'll compile from source as a last resort =)

On checking promise's site, I see they have drivers. They also recommend updating to the latest BIOS version on the card.

Click link below to check drivers
