Compiz-fusion problem on SuSE 10.3 (KDE)

Hi, is there any reason why Compiz-fusion does not work even though I have the icon displayed on the taskbar? I enabled every plugin, but it still doesn't work. Sax2 claims that 3D acceleration is enabled, and I am running the latest nVIDIA Drivers. Please help, thank you.

thanks, I got the effects working, however, I can seem to go into the 3d cube mode. is there any command I need to enter to get the cube working? I try to click on any of the four desktop windows, and none of them access the cube. Also I went into the desktop configuration settings, and applied 4 desktops instead of 1. However, anytime I restart the system or close the window, when I reaccess the settings, it shows only 1 desktop enabled instead? Is this a bug? Please let me know on this, thank you.

You only have one desktop background.

Here is a list of the commands

    Code:
    Window Operations
Move Window ALT + Left-Click and Drag
Move Window - Snap to screen CTRL + ALT + Left-Click and Drag
Resize Window ALT + Right-Click and Drag
    Switch Windows ALT + TAB
    Switch Windows (Scale Mode) F11
Wobbly Windows Left-Click Window and Drag
Translucency ALT + Mouse Up / Mouse Down
    Cube
Rotate Cube - Next Desktop CTRL + ALT + Left or Right Arrow
Rotate Cube - Next Desktop Move Mouse cursor to extreme edge of desktop
Rotate Cube - Take Active Window CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + Left or Right Arrow
Manually Rotate Cube CTRL + SHIFT + Left-Click on Desktop and Drag
    Zoom
    Zoom Once Super-Key (Windows Key)
Zoom In Manually Mouse Wheel Scroll Up + Super-Key (Windows Key)
Zoom Out Manually Mouse Wheel Scroll Down + Super-Key (Windows Key)
But that was for 10.1 I don't know how much it has changed since I ran it about a 1 1/2 years ago. It is very flashy and cool but I see no real use except the geewiz factor. I still consider it a beta.

None of the command keys stuff I posted works??

Most is to manipulate the cube.

Also understand there will only be one desktop/background that is painted on each of the 4 faces of the cube that represent work areas.

press ctrl-shift-left mouse button to rotate the cube

I noticed that the cube only works if I am in root mode or in the KDE 4 session. However, when logged in as a normal user in the older KDE, that doesn't work, only the animations and the other effects work. (i.e. wobbly windows, flames, water ripples, etc). Even the when I press the ctrl-alt-down arrow, that function does not bring up the four windows. What do you think I should do? The settings in the compiz-fusion manager seem fine to me.

Going back to my first post, if I try to configure four windows, it resets to one window only.

i think you have to enable autostart in the old kde

touch $HOME/.config/compiz/disable-compiz (to disable Compiz at startup)
rm $HOME/.config/compiz/disable-compiz (to enable Compiz to autostart on login)

i think thats the stuff read the link provided on the top

Thanks, after making certain changes to the compiz-fusion configuration on the KDE 4, the problem resolved on its own. The only thing that is not working now is if I was to move a window half way across to another face of the cube, the cube does not automatically rotate.

Lastly, in KDE 4 (another issue), anytime I log three icons (my computer, trash, and opensuse 10.3) do not show up correctly. Instead of showing the picture of the computer, trashbin, and opensuse logo, I see question marks. I tried to delete these three icons, but they return after I log back in. Any reason to why this happens? Let me know. Thank you.
