graphics problems
Greetings to you, masters and adepts of Linux. )
I've quite recently bought a new laptop and intended to use it for Windows/Linux dual-boot. I've gone through different distros, but finally decided to go for openSuSE (used Fedora a real while ago, didn't like Ubuntu), so i went ahead and downloaded openSuSE 10.3.
1.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GB RAM, ATI Radeon Mobility HD 2400
openSuSE 10.3, Desktop environment: SuSE's modified KDE 3.5.something
My problem is that after installation the overall graphics quality was pretty low for a HD 17-inch monitor, and Sax2 insisted that 3D is not supported. So I went ahead and installed what seemed to be proper latest ATI drivers, which showed some progress: after installation and Sax2 terminal restart the resolution changed to something like it was supposed to be, BUT when the windows were dragged around the desktop, or web page was scrolled down rendering was slow and painful. Sax2, however displayed correct video card information, 3D acceleration was enabled, and 3D-gears-in-a-box test seemed to be working. So what could be the problem?
I'm still trying to do something about it, but I'm really hoping for your advice. Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome !
Check HorizSync and VertRefresh rates in /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Refresh rates must be supported by your Monitor. Check Monitor Manual and edit xorg.conf file accordingly. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
