kstartupconfig does not allow user login to different hosts
Host1: AMD 64 bit processor on ASUS motherboard
Host2: AMD 64 bit processor in standard Dell
Both machines running SUSE 10.3
DCHP is provided by a router
DNS is provided by default internet: no server in the local network
Host1 has had NIS and NFS servers configured
Host2 has NIS and NFS clients configured
NFS is working and the /home directory has been satisfactorily mounted on Host2 from the Host1 server (Host1 had SUSE 10.3 installed without mounting a /home partition). All the files can be accessed when logged in to Host2 as root.
NIS is working as all the users are displayed on the login screen
THE PROBLEM:
When any of the users, other than root, try to login the following message is displayed:
"Could not start kstartupconfig"
and KDE is not launched.
What have I missed? Do I need to NFS import any other folders from Host1 to provide the kstartupconfig and is so which ones?
Many thanks...
