Boot probelm!!! winXP, Kubuntu and Suse
hey ppl
I have my first os as WindowsXP
then installed Kubuntu 7.10 (i am not really sure about the version letters though)
Then suse 10.3
I had probablly logged onto XP twice and then after getting the two linux versions havent logged in at all.
I occationally log onto Kubuntu but use Suse most of the time.
Today i had to use XP for a banking website and i logged in by selecting the other operating system optio about twice and then chose xp.
Now when i shut down . restart it directly logs onto windows...
E|What might be happening?
I did not have any problem while installing linux versions as the easily settled on top of each other and have had no issues with respect to the boot loader - grub or any thing else so far.
So this is my first time encounter with booting problems and also
I donot want to loose my linux versions. there are a lot of dear files of mine in it.
Quick solutions / reading please.

You can easily restore grub using the supergrub live cd.

It sounds like Windows has written over the MBR for some reason ...
Try the SuperGrub CD - you will be able to use this to boot Linux or Windows. In your case boot SUSE, run YAST and reinstall the boot loader.

Can i boot to suse without supergrub's help?
By the way what does super grub do?
I presently downloaded supergrub onto windows but have a problem as i have no software to write a CD , nor do i have a blank CD. I can get that fixed. That aint a problem but before i do use super grub
i would also like to know what exactly this does.
and is it not possible to write(rewrite in my case) the grub boot loader using the openSuSE 10.3 CD as if i am trying to repair the alredy present instalation which i think is one of the options???

SuperGRUB will search and re-install GRUB.
Boot up from SuSe installation CD/DVD and select Installation. Select Update/upgrade in next screen. Click next, next and next.... It will re-install GRUB.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
