same installation error, 2 disks, did md5sum on iso. Help!
I have tried to burn a install dvd to no avale. I downloaded the ISO on a SUSE 10.3 OS, did md5sum it checks out, transferred the iso to a fat32 160gb Seagate external hard drive, then transferred the iso to a ntfs Windows XPsp2 system where I have a dvd burner. I got a "foreign image file" error when trying to burn the iso in Nero8, so i mounted it virtually, then proceeded to burn it by copying it at lowest speed.
It burns then it boots but during the install I got the same error from two different disk attempts. Can anyone help me figure out the problem?
The error, if it matters is: Unable to create repository from URL 'cd:///?devices=dev/sr0. Details: valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)

Did you do a copy or did you burn as an ISO?
You must burn as an ISO. I don't know what Nero calls it but it should be obvious. Do not just copy it to the DVD.
You did a lot of copying it back and forth are you sure that you got a good copy each time???

Nero wouldn't let me burn the ISO so I had it mounted, then did a dvd copy from the virtual mount.
I just downloaded it, checked the md5sum, then put it on the external, then onto the computer with the dvd burner. I kept getting a "foreign image file" error in Nero thats why i mounted it, thats the only way I could burn the ISO. I don't know whats going on or how to fix it.

There is no reason that I know of that NERO should have been able to burn the ISO. Also don't know what might be the repercussions of mounting it.
What OS are you doing this on? Is this happening on a Windows or Linux machine? I assumed Windows because of NERO.Are using NERO for Linux??

Nero8 seems to have alot of issues have you tried using a different program to burn the image to disk there is dvd decrypter power iso and many other's . By the way when you are installing it have you tried to do the test installation media . I've had the same problem as you but then it was a hardware issues 10.3 just didnt like my motherboard

Yea its Nero on Windows. I've had SUSE 10.3 on this machine before but it was installed the network way, maybe the dvd install method doesn't like my computer.
I think your probably right though about Nero8 being the issue because that ISO was md5sum checked. Mounting the ISO then burning it was my only option in Nero because it wouldn't except the ISO.
I guess ill see if I can use another program, but alot that i've looked at have limits that prevent me from burning a 4gb ISO without purchasing which I guess I might have to do.
Thanks
