    erro 15 after downloading Ubuntu

    Dear All,
    I downloaded ubuntu 7.10.
Now when I try to boot the suse 10.3 OS I receive a message saying
    error 15 no file found
Interestingly... I can still use the Windows Vista OS and the Ubuntu OS.
How can I get my Suse 10.3 back?

    Thanks

Just to clarify something, did you mean to say that you installed Ubuntu on a system that already had Windows and openSUSE? If thats the case, then I suspect that Ubuntu may have overwritten your openSUSE grub. One way to resolve your problem, would be to mount the openSUSE root (/) partition from within Ubuntu and copy the main entry from the openSUSE /boot/grub/menu.lst and paste it in your Ubuntu /boot/grub/menu.lst. Another option would be to make a note of your Ubuntu grub entries, boot from the openSUSE installation disc (not the live discs), enter into rescue mode and reinstall grub. Once grub has been reinstalled, boot into openSUSE, edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and add the Ubuntu entry.

If you need more help with this, post back.

    Daarkstar,
I have downloaded Ubuntu along with windows and suse 10.3.
    You say:
If thats the case, then I suspect that Ubuntu may have overwritten your openSUSE grub.
I think so too. the only reservation is that after installing Ubuntu I was able (once) to boot Suse 10.3 as an OS.
    You say:
mount the openSUSE root (/) partition from within Ubuntu and copy the main entry from the openSUSE /boot/grub/menu.lst and paste it in your Ubuntu /boot/grub/menu.lst.
    First question:
How do I know what the opensuse root (/) partition is. Is it a file, or a command?
I think I am able to copy the openSUSE /boot/grub/menu list. If I knew how to access it.
Pasting to the Ubuntu /boot/grub/menu.lst should be easy. How do I access this list.
You may soon regret having suggested the solution. As you could have guessed I am pretty illeterate and some times the simplest of instructions baffle me.

If you were able to access openSUSE after installing Ubuntu, did you do any updates in openSUSE (I am mainly concerned about the kernel here). Also can you post the openSUSE section from your Ubuntu /boot/grub/menu.lst.

    Daark _Child,
    Thanks for the help.
I seem to have resolved the problem. Your advice was appreciated. In the end I deleted Ubuntu from my drive. It was not able to do what I wanted it to do anyway
I now have full Suse 10.3 with all my old settings, and I am able to boot to Windows if I need to

    thanks for the help

I'm glad you sorted your problem. If you need help with openSUSE, don't hesitate to ask.
