Base System help!
Hi all, ive tried compiling and installing a kernel, on a base system (created by "installation into directory" within YaST) that i have chrooted into. My problem is this. When i try to boot into the base system, using this base as an NFSROOT for another client machine (via network boot) i get some errors:
VFS: Mounted root (nfs filesystem)
Cannot read /etc/hostname
...
Warning: unable to open an initial console
...
login: (prompt)
When i try to login i get a failed login attempt, 'root' does not prompt for a password, just fails immediately, anything else asks for a password, and then fails after it is entered.
Obviously yast hasnt created a fully functional base system; my question is how to a resolve these problems to make my base system identical to a proper SUSE root file system? Cheers
