    I can't switch off my pc!

    Hi
    Whenever i try to switch off my computer, instead of switching off it restarts.
    Now,i don't have any option than to switch it off by the power button!which is not a good thing to do.
    what should i do to fix this problem?

    When you turn off your PC, are you doing it from the terminal, or from the GUI? I find it more effective to do a system shut down from the terminal.

    Which Desktop Environment and Login Manager and version of SuSe are you using?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    I am using kde 3.5.7 and kdm as a login manager also opensuse 10.3.

    open the terminal window(shell)and type the command shutdown -t

    Thanks for the command but i want to troubleshoot it so that i can be able to switch it off in GUI without giving a command!

    Have you checked the /var/log/messages file to see if there is any info on the shut-down process for your box? There might be some errors occuring behind the scecnes that may be recorded there.
