Thumbs up About to setup a new Linux, Need suggestions.

I've never used Linux before, I've always been a big fan of it and always heard good things. I've ALWAYS used Windows, since 3.1. So I'm looking for something that is going to be good and easy for a beginner in linux, but also good for a laptop, and a computer gamer. I've used SuSe Lightly before, but that's about it.

This is the computer i'll be working with.

    Code:
    http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/BladeC/1014033Rsp2.shtml
And mostly i'll be playing world of warcraft, go figure. Aswell as some first person shooters and some light photo / video editing.

ANY help or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks guys.

i dont know about gaming, but ease of use and compatability i would have to give to th ubuntu family, its very windows like in my opinion. easy transition.

yeah i prefer the kde desktop, which is therefore kubuntu, but if you want to try out the gnome (ahs a cooler name) try livecds of both kubuntu and ubuntu

Well i've toyed around with what i think is KDE, on a SuSe live CD. but i literally dont know how to do a thing in linux. so im not sure how this is going to work. but im downloading Ubunto as we speak.

    *edit*

now that i look around im definatly going to go with KDE, gnome is too windows'ish. Kubuntu 7.10?

if youre familiar with kde id stick with kubuntu, but if you havent gotten enough exposed to have a prefenence, then either is good.
