most likely one of Three problems.
1) You don't have a video card driver loaded
2) you have a runaway process eating CPU
check by running top from a command window.
3) Your video card just won't keep up. Get a faster one. Those effects really load video.

ok i've got the driver checked top my cpu is fine so guess i'll just have to get a new graphics card

Maybe but I think your hardware just does not have the horsepower to handle what you are trying to do. The 5200 series is at least 5 years old. I run a 6800 XT SLI board which I bought 2 years ago and that was at the end of its production, and I consider it basic middle of the road. It did handle the cube plus movies but I really did not like the fancy eye candy and removed it after about a month. +10 for coolness 0 for added functionality.

You just need a newer graphics card the rest of your system seems very up to date. You were just expecting too much from that old card.
BTW I get 10,000+ FPS with xglgears with my 6800 based card.

Ouch max i've reached is 3000fps think i'll invest in a new graphics card while i'm saving for my new rig
