Installation Of Suse Linux Interprise Server Fails

I try to install Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 SP4 under Windows XP. After the welcome screen of SLES I choose the Installation option and the installation begins. After the selection of my language and keyboard settings I choose the 'Start Installation or System' and then 'Start Installation or Update' after. After that I choose 'CD-ROM' as my source. Now the following message appears: 'Cannot find the image.' and the installation fails.

Is it possible that I have to unload or load some scsi or ide drivers?

Are you doing this from a CD/DVD????

How new is the computer. Suse 9 is pretty old and may not have the drivers for newer hardware.

Why such an old version?? The current version is 10.3

I have the solution from another forum:
When installing from SLES SPx, you boot with the SLES SP CD1 but you need the SLES9 core CDs as well. When they ask you to insert CD1, you have insert CD1 of SLES9, not SLES9SPx.

Thanks for putting in this solution. I was struggling with this. I thought I had tried it before but re-reading your post got me throught the installation. 2 years later and the info is still worth gold! Thanks Linux Forums!
