Wi-Fi seems to work but fails to connect
Hi,
I just installed OpenSUSE 10.3 on my laptop.. I got sick of Vista and finally decided to make the switch to linux.. the issue i'm having is with the wi-fi.. I've installed opensuse before and had issues with configuring my Atheros card with madwifi. But I did all of that without problems this time around..
My problem is the computer fails to connect to any Wireless networks. It detects all of them, but when I click on them in the taskbar to connect, it attempts to connect to the network, but always goes back to the no connection icon... the wi-fi worked fine with Vista and XP. the weird thing is this is the exact same linux distribution i installed last time, and I followed the same steps i did to make the wireless work last time, and I never got this issue..
Can anyone help me out on this one?

Would need to know which chip you're using, anyway i have a Netgear rangemax pci card working with madwifi, i downloaded the driver from the main website and installed it by hand, you'll also need "wpa_supplicant" if you're planning to use wpa encryption, and "iwconfig" to manually tune your settings, but Yast and knetwork manager can go a long way with no need for file editing.

uhm, from the manufacturer website :
main chipset : Intel 945GM+ICH7-M
doesn't mention anything about the wifi except 802.11a/b/g; miniPCI NAPA; 108Mbps
From what I remember it's an atheros card though.. you might want to check out the first thread I posted a few months back when I didn't know how to configure my wireless card :

Anyways I get I just need help on configuring YaST or the networkmanager to connect to my wireless network, since the card seems to be configured fine
- by the way my router isn't setup with encryption right now so I don't need to bother with that

Ok.. i checked my computer some more so I could clarify my problem. Both the wired and wireless card on my laptop are configure properly, but they fail to retrieve adresses from my router's DHCP. I know the router isn't faulty since the computer i'm typing this from is connected to the same one. Do you think I did something wrong in setting up my connections? and if so, is there a way to reset my configuration and start over?
