Graphics problem after installing new kernel
I updated my kernel through yast i'm now using 2.6.24-159 everything went well but when i try and reinstall my graphics card drivers i get this error
The cc version check failed the compiler used to compile the kernel gcc 4.3 does not exactly match you current compiler gcc4.2 the linux 2.6 kernel module loader rejects kernel modules built with gcc that does not exactly match that of the compiler used to build the running kernel
I've tried searching for gcc4.3 but found gcc43 4.3 now my kde is not working properly window s won't move and the close maximise and minimisie buttons are all missing damage control how can i fix this how can i uninstall the buggy nvidia driver i've got on now

What version of openSUSE are you using? Is this the factory release? The reason why I ask is because non of the released versions use gcc 4.3 or kernel 2.6.24. If you do not have the same version of gcc that was used to compile your running kernel, then you will not be able to compile any modules that will work successfully with it.

I'm using opensuse 10.3 i was experimenting with upgrading kernel i did it from yast though can i find a repo with gcc 4.3 on it

What is the output of running
andCode:cat /etc/SUSE-release
I am positive there isn't a kernel 2.6.24 for openSUSE 10.3 and the latest stable kernel is 2.6.22.16-0.2.Code:uname -r

revert back to an older Kernel or find the proper gcc version. Expect to bleed when you ride the cutting edge.

If you remove the kernel repository you used to update, your kernel will show in red when you open Yast software management. Click to update the red item and it will go back to the default kernel. If you didn't use a repository it will show in red anyway.
PS that will also apply to your gcc.Last edited by peteh; 02-07-2008 at 03:02 PM. Reason: to add extra note
