Hi All,

I have a strange problem with suse 10.3 and ir remote controls that I cannot identify the cause of, and so appeal to all of you to put me out of my misery

I am using suse 10.3 with a hauppage Nova-T pci card, and for some reason the remote control seems to be pre-configured and I am unable to modify the settings - if i press the mute button then KDE mutes the audio, if i press the volumn up / down the KDE volume is altered. This might sound find, but if i press the POWER (green) button on the remote..... the PC shuts down.

As far as I can tell I have configured LIRC correctly, but it seems to make no difference and I am unable to override this apparently "built-in" functionality. I have even completely remove LIRC but the PC still responds to the buttons on the remote control. I have also tried to override the functionality with the tools that come with lirc, but all that happens is my "override" task is performed, and then the default action is performed.

How can i turn off or reconfigure this built in ir support so that I can set the power button to do something else (i actually want it to start MythTV if myth is not already running)
