    Text based apps you can use are pine and mutt. If you are forwarding X in your ssh session, you can even use GUI ones like thunderbird, kmail, evolution etc.

    Pine ROCKS!! I do all my mail reading in pine. Perhaps I'm just paranoid of viruses. Ever heard of a virus affecting a unix mail reader???
