    the rpm command will handle all of the package stuff for ya.

    'rpm -i packagename.rpm' to install
    'rpm -U packagename.rpm' to upgrade
    'rpm -e packagename.rpm' to uninstall
    'man rpm' for more info on rpm
    'man less' for help navigating man files
