How did you install the driver? Manually or via the one click install?

I believe the NVIDIA drivers will enable 3d support by default. Are you sure your graphic card has 3D support?

I assume this is in relation to Compiz...

Sax2 relies on a file that lists the "known" cards. It's not uncommon to have a card not in that list (or an out-dated list.)

Suggestion: Ignore sax, or better, don't use it.

If glxinfo | grep -i rend shows the correct driver, you're fine. Enable 3 options:

    Code:
    nvidia-xconfig --composite
    nvidia-xconfig --render-accel
    nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals -d 24
Restart X, ensure that Composite is enabled:

    Code:
    cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i comp
If all is OK, install Compiz Fusion using the 1-click install, then start compiz-manager.

Press Ctrl+Alt and click and drag anywhere on your screen. If it's installed and set up correctly the cube should spin
