Gnome Installation
I have spent a considerable number of hours setting up my suse 64bit system - it now does all that I want of it. I use KDE but would now like to try Gnome. I am aware that both can live on the same system but would appreciate some guidance as to how to go about it.
At which repo do I point Yast for Gnome?
What do I need to download?
Will all my apps that currently run on KDE (gwenview, gimp and amarok in particular) still work?
How do I choose between KDE and Gnome at start up?
Most of all if it all goes wrong is their an easy way out!!
Many thanks

As long as you have the main OSS repo, you should be able to simply choose the GNOME desktop for installation from YAST. All your KDE apps should still work and you can choose between KDE and GNOME from the login manager.

Installed Gnome but Gnome not an option in the Sessions menu. On attempting to logon having selected KDE - black screen, no cursor, keyboard dead. On complete re-boot the same - enter logon pword - black screen, no cursor, keyboard dead. I knew it would happen - mess with a working system at your peril - it WILL DIE!
1.5 hours later back up and running with KDE after a full re-install. I will leave Gnome well alone!!

If you are doing a full reinstall ... select KDE as your desktop but select to install gnome as well. I have done this in the past & both desktops are available as session selections.
