    Do you know what type of tuner and capture chip is in it? How about the driver module? With some cards you need to specify the tuner and other options when loading the module.

    Enter this command (as root) and post the output.
    Code:
    lspci
    Some info on the make and model of the card would be helpful too.

    Kdetv is analog only. If its a digital tuner then Kaffeine has digital tv and plays well. I'm assuming you use KDE.

    I'm fairly sure Kaffeine comes with ability to tune but it's been a while since I did it. I remember installing 'dvbtune' from opensuse main repo.
    But there's a reasonable explanation of scanning for channels here.

    Thank you for the info, this would be the card:
    Code:
    00:07.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 05)
    00:07.1 Multimedia controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [Audio Port] (rev 05)
    I also need the PCI ID. Run the command again with the -nn option.
    Code:
    lspci -nn
    And again, the make and model of the card would be very helpful.

    Here is a wiki for cards with the cx2388x chips:
    Cx88 devices (cx2388x) - V4LWiki

    If this is a DVB card, you may need firmware loaded for it to work. Check the output of this command for and messages about the card.
    Code:
    dmesg

    I think that I have enough info:
    Code:
    Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [14f1:8800] (rev 05)
    The cx23880 is supported under the v4l driver group, for analog only cards. I can't seem to find the card's ID on the most recent supported cards list:
    v4l-dvb: linux/Documentation/video4linux/CARDLIST.cx88@dfe7a14961d9

    Here is more reading material about that chipset.
    Cx88 devices (cx2388x) - V4LWiki

    I'm not exactly sure of the exact module that needs to be loaded, it could be cx88 or cx8800. Run this command and post the output.
    Code:
    lsmod
    The problem is most likely that the tuner is unknown. If you know the tuner, it can be specified when loading the module. When you look at the output of dmesg, does it have something like this?
    Code:
    cx88[0]: Your board isn't known (yet) to the driver. You can
    cx88[0]: try to pick one of the existing card configs via
    cx88[0]: card= insmod option. Updating to the latest
    cx88[0]: version might help as well.
    cx88[0]: Here is a list of valid choices for the card= insmod option:
    cx88[0]: card=0 -> UNKNOWN/GENERIC
    cx88[0]: card=1 -> Hauppauge WinTV 34xxx models
    cx88[0]: card=2 -> GDI Black Gold
    cx88[0]: card=3 -> PixelView
    cx88[0]: card=4 -> ATI TV Wonder Pro
    cx88[0]: card=5 -> Leadtek Winfast 2000XP Expert
    cx88[0]: card=6 -> AverTV Studio 303 (M126)
    You could go through the list loading and unloading the module with the card=x option.
    Code:
    modprobe -r cx88
    modprobe cx88 card=6
    There are currently 66 cards in the list
    http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb?cmd=fi...e=-1;style=raw

    If you can identify the tuner manufacturer, it may narrow down the possibilities.
    Paul
