Trying to install suse10.3 - Cant get any DE to load
I have installed using the gnomeCD off their-website and used the checksum. I have installed it onto my system fine and it seems to identify all of my hardware properly and everything looks fine during installation. Then when it attempts to boot it crashes everytime and I can only use the text based linux and access the yast2. In yast2 if I select my graphics card and monitor the system will crash. If i type startx it crashes because of a mouse error? could my logitech optical mouse hooked up to ps/2 port be a problem? I get a no core pointer error every time i try startx. I'm running a pentium 4 2.2 ghz with an Nvidia geforce 5200 pci express card. I've tried downloading the nvidia driver(don't know if I need it?) but it said dependecies were missing. I'd really like to quit using windows but I need more than a text based system...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

log file
this is the text form my Xorg.log file If anyone can tell me what this means that would be helpful. I tried getting a basic corded mouse and keyboard but I still get this wierd mouse errorr, no core pointer. Also the whole thing seems to be pointing to a file /etc/X11/Xorg.conf which I cannot find(there is no X11 directory) is that a problem...I cant even find a file called Xorg.conf
I tried to paste the log file but the board kept saying it had too many imagaes in it, despite it having none. I try attaching it and its too large. If anyone has any insights I can paste the important parts of the log file that you need...Linux seems like a lot of hassle for a non programmer- I wish windows wasnt so horrible.

Have you tried to reinstall your SusE 10.3 ?
Have you tried to use the default port for your mouse (usb) ?
Tried to use sax2 from your console(text base), there would be a warning for your error hardware and system, If you haven't install a driver for your Gforce 5200, tried to download it on nvidia web site.
try to type 'dmesg' to see the recorded errors on your system. From your Xorg.log it's mean there's a problem with your installation, coz it isn't possible using a GUI without any Xorg.conf file. or maybe there would be somewhere else, such as /etc/Xorg.conf. have you check it out?
you may e-mail me your Xorg.log, maybe I could give more hand on it.

The file should be /etc/X11/xorg.conf
note the capitalizations.
I had trouble install 10.3 my mouse is a Logitech wireless USB but I also have a KVM switch and a USB to to ps/2 dongle. I had no time to fuss with it so I just installed 10.2 which installed without problems.
If you don't have a /etc/X11 directory the install ins incomplete or damaged
