    Installing RPMs

How do I install from downloaded RPMs. I downloaded the newest Open Office targzip, but cannot figure out how to install it. I tried to get YAST to operate on the targzip file, and I also unzipped it and tried to get YAST to operate on some of the RPM files I thought most likely to be the "intall" file. No joy.

That is most likely a source file you have there. If so you must compile it. I highly recommend you stick with the official Suse releases with OO.

Hmm. But there are a bunch of files in there that end in .rpm.

I still recommend you stay away from non Suse blessed OO builds.

Unless you are a glutton for punishment.

If you want the latest openoffice for openSUSE, do the following: YAST -> Software -> Community Repositories and enable the openSUSE Openoffice build service repository. After that upgrade or install the OOo packages you need via YAST or zypper.
