SLES 10.1 going to sleep ? or major props
Hello All,
Im very new on this forum and hope I post this in a good order.
We have a Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10.1 running. ( on a HP DL580 ) This server is running good for a few days and then suddenly goes to "sleep mode".
When this happens we can't reach the Oracle 10g databases and network on/to this server is not working. The bad thing is that the monitor is turned on, but totally black, hitting any key doesn't help..I have to hold the power button to turn off the server ( hope the disks will survive this hard resets
When i look at /var/log/messages or in yast I can't figure out the problem in the logs. I also set power settings to "always on" to ensure it isn't a powersetting... What could be the problem, is that i scheduled a cron job to mail us the disk and database usage every tuesday. ( this worked for few weeks ). The problem also happend when i press MTA in Yast. ( wont do it again because the server can crash, can't do this in working time
( i will try this soon in the evening )
I'll going to update the server because we havent done that after install, and raise a ticket at Novell ( we have a License ) Maybe you guys/girls can give me some background info to solve this problem.
***Update****
I have run the latest updates and its possible to run MTA and send mail thru the cron job without the server hangs..lets hope it stays this way.
Thank you in advance,
Sander
