    SuSE 10.3 Boot Error

    Hello,
Today I reinstalled my linux (twice) and I have a boot problem.
I finished successfully the installation, and the linux started. After I reboot my computer. Start the boot screen and STOP THE BOOTING AT LEAST 30 MINUTES!!:o Later it carry on, and if I reboot I've must to wait 30 minutes again. I check the DVD, and it's OK, no errors with disc. So what's the problem?

I'm not sure whats wrong ... I think more information is required. As a first step you can check logs and next time you boot ... at the grub menu press escape, e to edit and select the kernel line and remove the splash=silent text, press enter then b to boot. This should show text rather than the usual splash screen ... what are the last couple of lines before the 30 minute wait and what is the line after the 30 minute wait?

    Boot

    hello

I have seen what you wrote, and it's very intresting what happend. I can't told you, because I haven't got enough time to read it.
Booting, looks like everything ok, and immadiatly 'overflow' or I don't know how can I say what I saw. I try to take a photograph, perhaps I can see something, but I can't. I take a very bad quality video, perhaps you can understand what is this. http://sk8video.extra.hu/linux.avi 30 minutes later it finished this text-flow and carry-on the booting. But if I reboot, nothing changes

Could not see the text clearly enough to see what it says ... in Yast check the boot and warn logs?

Ed: Try in a root terminal ...
    Code:
    grep 'Mar 30 00:20' /var/log/messages
replace the Mar 30:20 with a time period when the text was scrolling up the screen during startup, post the output.

    Boot Log

So I've seen the boot log file, and I think I've found the error text:

    Inspecting /boot/System.map-2.6.22.5-31-default
    Loaded 26662 symbols from /boot/System.map-2.6.22.5-31-default.
    Symbols match kernel version 2.6.22.
No module symbols loaded - kernel modules not enabled.

klogd 1.4.1, log source = ksyslog started.

Looks like a IRQ/graphics issue ... what does dmesg report? do this after a normal boot.

Have you had SUSE 10.3 running on the system before ... if so what have you changed/added to the system?

You could rule out X problems by booting in runlevel 3, at the grub menu press esc, e to edit, select kernel line, e to edit again and add a space and 3 to the line (and remove the splash text as before), then enter then b to boot ... do you get the same text during boot?

Ed: if your posting output if you highlight is and use the code button ... # above text entry panel it makes the thread a bit easier to read.

    Buut

I try start in failsafe mode, and I get this results again, and I try SuSE Live, and I saw again.
I have a TV card, can we try to disable this? How can we disable the TV 'check' or I don't know what is it doing!?!
Do this thing with every SuSE Linux mode!

I'd try two places to either change card configuration to either something which does not clash or which functions correctly ... BIOS setup, and Yast ... probably in hardware setup.

If you have Windows on the same system and the card functions correctly then check card config and see if you can change this in Linux to match.

    ...

The card has something error, or I don't know what was the problem. It doesn't work under Linux & Windows. I can remove and replace in another slot, and now everythings fine. I hope not only temporarily...
Anyway thank you for your help
