    Opensuse install w/ out cd drive

    Hey ya! heres my delema.

    I have a toshiba laptop (piece of junk i know), on which the cd drive has gone out, is there a way to install opensuse 10.3 without my cd drive??? like a live usb that can be made from windows or something? or one you can email me?

    any help would be much aperciated

    Welcome to the forums!

    You could take a look at unetbootin to see if it would work with OpenSuse. I've never tried it, so don't know for sure.

    OpenSuse is a really big distribution, so it would take a huge flash drive to hold it all.

    You might be able to hook up an external cd drive and install from that. Otherwise, I think trying again with unetbootin is your best option. It says on their website it works, but again I've never tried it so don't know what all problems you might run into.

    Suse used to offer an FTP installation, but I'm not sure if they still have that option available. Maybe someone else will reply that knows for sure.

    Ok thx, and yes Opensuse does have an FTP install. I'll try that out, i already tried an external drive didn't work . Well thx for your help, i'll try that again
