    invoke makefile?

hey guys, this is most likely a newbie question, but here goes

    http://www-users.york.ac.uk/~jcs116/wintv_cx88.html

at that site, step 3 says to invoke the makefile: make....what does that mean ( i actually tar an updated file than what it says...the contents of which are

    invasian@gh-1057:~/cx88-0.0.4> ls
    audiochip.h cx88-i2c.c i2c-compat.h tda9887.c video-buf.c
    btcx-risc.c cx88-reg.h id.h tda9887.h video-buf.h
    btcx-risc.h cx88-tvaudio.c linux tuner.c videodev2.h
    cx88-cards.c cx88-vbi.c Make.config tuner.h videodev.h
    cx88-core.c cx88-video.c Makefile v4l1-compat.c
    cx88.h doc media v4l2-common.c

i'm not sure what invoke the makefile means...just to clarify i type in 'make' and it says that command is not found

in order to use make command firstly you should type in a console window ./configure (it that folder).as i can see there is not such file in the folder you specified..
