suse 10.3 on P3 450mhz comp.
i tried installing 10.3 on a pentium 3 450 mhz computer with 192 ram and i try installing it with the live cd. but after it gets through the config x the screen goes black
i have a feeling it might be a few or a combination of things
the video memory is only 8mb or mib. but im not really sure. also i think i have insufficient ram. maybe with a lower version of suse maybe 10? i can pull it off maybe?
another thing, i stole some ram from the fams laptop and added that in even with 256 couldnt do it. bugged out after the configx
so does anyone know my problem or would like to collaborate with me and help find a cure?
i hope i was detailed enough

192 MB is not enough RAM:
NOVELL®: openSUSE® 10.3: Hardware Requirements
Not sure how much video memory is needed.
Yeah, you could try an older version of Suse to see what happens.oz

I think you would be better of looking at something like Xubuntu or DSL given the RAM you have in the system. I have run older versions of SUSE on systems with lower RAM but they run slowly.
Is there any reason you particularly need to run SUSE?

The live cd won't work well with 192 megs of ram. You could get the KDE/GNOME discs (the non live ones) or the DVD and try to install from that. If the installer works fine, you will need to choose a lightweight environment e.g. Windowmaker or XFCE becuase KDE and GNOME will be really sluggish.

KDE is a desktop (GUI's). The two big desktops are KDE and Gnome, both are supported by Suse. Both require larger amounts of ram and processor power then you have. They may run but it will be painfully slow.
Windowmaker or XFCE are much lighter GUI's then KDE or Gnome
For your hardware I'd suggest a much smaller distribution such as Damn Small Linux
