ati-driver-installer
Hey folks. Totally new with this. I have OpenSuse 10.3 and using a Amd 64 with a ATI 1950 GT 512 card. i downloaded the "ati-driver-installer-8-3-x86.x86_64" driver for it.
PLEASE can some one help me install it.
I know i have to be root, which i have done. I log in as root, then have the file on my desktop, i run it in console and then it starts the installer. After it is complete....then i restart to normal GNOME and i still have it as it used to be. low refresh rate and no 3D etc
Could anyone help me plz? OR even refer me to a old post where this was posted.
nm, i will try to do it by my self. i found a link -->> THE LINK <<--Last edited by C0833; 04-10-2008 at 09:11 AM. Reason: more info

after you install it you need to change the xorg.conf file to use the new driver rather than whatever you were using before

Hmm, really sorry, i got amd64 and ati but i forgot how I installed it.. Took me 2 days (long time ago). I used an installer script from their website. It had 2 options if i remember correctly, building the rpm didn't work. The other one did. sax2 -r and a bit of hacking in etc.conf did the trick. However, I do get crashes once a while and I suspect the graphic card..
