A couple of dirrerent problems

hi everyone i hope some one can help me with a couple of problem's

! i have re-installed 10.3 with both kde and gnome desktops and i cant connect to the internet and get a error saying (smpppd might not be running) , when i search for this and use the run command everything works fine . any ideas on how i can set this to run when i want to connect

2 has anyone had any luck getting the scanner on a epson stylus cx6900f working under linux ?

I would be gratefull for any help

You could try in Yast->System-> System services (runlevel) you can select the service from the list, if you select expert mode you can also set the runlevel when it is required to run. This may fix your first issue.
