    agina a chmod 755 / problem

    Hi all,

I am comin with same age old problem "Accidental modification of file permissions on / directory tree". Actually i did a " chmod 755 .* " on /home directory - unknowingly that .* would expand to "../". Now all my file permissions got changed.

My system is not responding at all now. Guyz anybody know whether Is it possible to change the file permissions from rescue mode.

    Thanks

I think you should be able to do a console login and run Yast to create a new user. Then you can login as the new user and make changes to your existing user home area, you could use the new user home area as a template to fix your existing user home area.
